Honor Women on Mother's Day
Dignity, courage, grace, and unconditional love. Do these words bring to mind a woman or women in your life who gave you gifts of life, hope, faith, countless hugs and kisses, and life lessons upon which you rely to this day? The National Council of Catholic Women is pleased to bring you the opportunity to remember and honor these women: your mother, grandmothers, aunt, sister, godmother, daughter, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, niece, friend, mentor, or any woman dear to you, in a very special and beautiful way this Mother’s Day by having them prayed for in Masses on Mother’s Day at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
The Basilica is the nation’s preeminent Marian shrine. The largest Catholic church in the USA, it is commonly called, “America’s Catholic Church.” The Immaculate Conception is the title under which we invoke Mary as patroness of the United States, in effect, as our Mother. How very fitting to have a means for our members across the country to honor our mothers and significant women in our lives by having them remembered in Masses said at this National Shrine of Mary on Mother’s Day 2018.
There is a beautiful and peaceful garden outside the Shrine named Mary’s Garden that was donated by our NCCW. At our spring Board meeting, we make a special effort to walk down to Mary’s Garden to recite the rosary together as a Board for our NCCW and its members, past and present. This practice and this Garden present a tangible and lasting connection with the Basilica and our NCCW.
Should you wish to participate in this Mother’s Day Gift, please complete the form, printing legibly, and return it by May 4, 2018 with a minimum donation of $20 per name; one-half will be sent to the Shrine and one-half retained at the NCCW. If you need more donation requests, please just duplicate the form or print the required information on a sheet of paper. Please send your form(s) and your donation to:
National Council of Catholic Women

200 N. Glebe Road, Suite 725
Arlington, VA 22203
There is a space on the form with each name that we ask you to complete if you would like the NCCW to send a card to the person being remembered. Again, please ensure that you print legibly a complete address for the recipient and the name you wish to have noted as the donor. You may indicate “Anonymous” for the donor, if you wish.
Thank you for considering your participation in this lovely Mother’s Day remembrance.
May Our Lady of Good Counsel, patroness of the National Council of Catholic Women, bless you, your families, and our NCCW,
